Hope

I always feel a little uneasy in the midst of change. When I sit back and attempt to soak in all that is going on in the world today, from sinking markets to flaring rockets, I find it so difficult to feel a sense of peace. My mind continuously wants to make connections where there are disconnects, repair breaks, smooth kinks, and seek out the thin silver lining. It seems so much is broken. Shifting. So many people are uneasy. Jobs are disappearing. Conversations lack optimism. There's so much that needs to change in this world and yet I can barely wade through the small set of tasks listed on a sheet of paper beside my desk.
Yet, when I let the wide view of the world fall away and focus on the eyes of my children, I see hope and I feel a sense of peace. It reminds me that each of us has an opportunity to help change the current state of the world with simple actions like looking at someone with kindness in our eyes.

I feel a sense of peace just looking in her eyes too
I couldn't agree more. Thank goodness for our children who most definitely keep us grounded and full of hope.
Stunning portrait, Steph. Really, really beautiful.
I know these times must be unsettling for you. I'm lighting a candle for you today.
An excellent message to go with the photo.
I read this post with new meaning today. I was involved in avery bad accident. I saw in that accident the small glimmers of hope... the person who holds your hand, the person who cleans the blood, the people who stop to help. The eyes of the person who says it will be ok. In the greater context life is made p of small accidents and we can be the ones who stop, who help, who give hope...
Your photography is one of those forms of hope Stephanie.
The steel blue in you
shows in her.
Great image. I think we need to be positive but realistic. I love your take on it all.
