Nikon D90 Motion Experiment #1

Motion Experiment #1 from LittlePurpleCow Productions on Vimeo.

Can you believe that it took me four days to open the box? I knew I wanted to savor it. To focus. My friend Tamar and I talked about this phenomenon a few weeks ago. "You mean, if you get a letter in the mail, you don't open it right away?" she asked. Oddly enough, I don't. I'm not sure why because the excitement is certainly there. I'm eager, but I wait. I wait for just the right time when my mind is ready to experience the moment completely.

So, today was the day. I opened the box to extract and hold my Nikon D90, a digital SRL that shoots HD video. I'm so excited, I can hardly stand it. This is the first in a series of ten motion experiments to come. I shot this with my 50mm 1.4 lens to explore bokeh in motion.

I think that is so cool. I love that you do not open letters right away...me neither.

bokeh in motion -- what is bokeh, still or in motion? thanks, and waiting for the #s 2-10!

Bokeh is the "out of focus" area of a photograph. You create bokeh using a lens with a shallow depth of field and adjusting the aperture of your lens to a low f/stop number. If you use a point-and-shoot camera, often the auto portrait setting will focus on the person in view and blur the background (or create bokeh) for you.

This is such a great piece...the motion is excellent! I bet the kids had fun :) I confess, I'm like you...I don't open mail or packages right away...I too like to be ready for the moment to experience what's inside and then savor it in MY own time. :)

That's so fun to watch as you come in and out of focus in that hilarious & not very typical living room way.
