A Few of Her Cherished Things

I'm really close to finishing and sharing the first episode of my new digital documentary series featuring creative souls from the south. This is one of the images from the piece showing artist Melanie Eberhardt's grandmother's cabinet stuffed with a few of her most cherished things. That floral-print, square-shaped tin on the second shelf contains the ashes of her black laborador retriever, Alex. I recorded the story of her bond with Alex while we were together, but decided to omit this segment from the documentary for the sake of time and focus. But I thought you might enjoy knowing this little secret.
* * *
"My mom has instructions that when I die, I'm supposed to be cremated and Alex and I mixed together and then sprinkled someplace pretty. (pause) She probably won't get it right though." – Melanie Eberhardt
